DELIVERING ACCELERATED IMPROVEMENTS IN ASSET MANAGEMENT PRACTICES

Delivering improvements rapidly and ensuring that they stick requires both the right technical solutions as well as the acceptance of those solutions by all stakeholders and individuals that end up using the solutions.

The six-phased approach shown here has been applied successfully to deliver sustained improvements in asset management practices.

Each phase is sequential however with feedback loops to ensure the things we learn are used to continually improve each phase.  It is a journey that continues to live and grow.

Phase 1 is focused on raising awareness of asset management through the development of a fit-for-purpose Asset Management Framework including supporting Manuals and Guidelines.

Phase 2 is focused on creating desire to change based potential improvements in asset performance, practices and competencies.

Phase 3 is focused on building shared commitment towards asset management excellence in all stakeholders through eye-catching and compelling communications along with change management tools.

Phase 4 is focused on planning and developing a roadmap including budgets and resource plans to transform the Asset Management Framework into actions.

Phase 5 is focused on implementing and embedding the Asset Management Framework, developing engaged, competent, motivated people, implementing effective business processes and systems, and delivering safe, reliable and cost-effective assets.

Phase 6 is focused on sustaining and improving on the gains made by building Asset Management into the Annual Business Planning Cycle.
